		<description>When this works, it&#039;s because the people already there before I arrive want it to work like this. In that case, it survives as long as that core stays together. Bringing up someone to take over after I move on has certainly helped it last.</description>

		<description>Andrew, I think the reason you are successful at your practice is because you probably have a great knack for creating environments like this. My experience is that it takes a solid facilitator to make this happen as it is far from natural corporate behavior.

Have you looked back over a period of time and seen if these teams stay that way once you move on? If so, was there someone of your skill that took over? If not, what happened?</description>

		<description>In the most creative environment I&#039;ve ever seen, information flowed freely. No one horded any knowledge. The whole team sat together in an open space. They worked shoulder to shoulder, collaborating continuously. They had a shared goal, that of finishing a set of work every two weeks. Each goal was related to delivering business value. Every task, and I mean /every/ task, to be done was on the whiteboard, free for anyone to take. Technical and process problems were discussed openly. A mechanism was set up to spur out of band ideas. Daily. Feedback was expected almost daily. There is a recognition that it is individuals that deliver, so they are supported with skills growth opportunities and an empowering environment.

The key to the success is they shared some core values, namely communication and courage, and practiced it to the extreme. These are things I&#039;m quite passionate about, and are therefore present in a significant way in each of my consulting engagements.</description>
